Allocutio
The
allocutio was given by Fr. O’Donohue. Jesus’ last
command to the Church was to proclaim the good news of the Gospel to
the world.
In ancient times, kings would ask messengers to proclaim their
coronation. We
are called to proclaim the good news that Jesus is our king. His
kingdom is
open to all who profess him as Lord. As legionaries, we should
appreciate that
each one of us is a messenger and that we bear the best of all possible
news.
We do not have the power in ourselves to convert others, but all we are
called
to do is to proclaim and the Holy Spirit has the power. We should feel
blessed
that we have such a gift to present to the world.
