Problems in a praesidium must immediately be brought to the attention of the curia

Filed under: Legion of Mary Tips — Chrysostom @ 1:10 pm

The curia is the supervising body of the praesidium. The curia meeting is a school for officers and the place where frank and open discussion is to take place. Attempts to solve problems in the praesidium without the involvement of the curia will likely fail. Likewise, it is the responsibility of the curia to keep sufficient contact with its praesidia to know when problems occur that require curia intervention. It is a fundamental Legion principle that no Legion body proceeds into uncharted waters without guidance from the higher council.

The best recruiting drive is an examination of conscience

Sometimes, the best way to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ is to reform and change one’s own life.  This is, in many ways, the most true for people who regularily attend Mass and generally are practicing Catholics.

In such people, it is common, from time-to-time for sin to creep into their lives.  A regular examination of conscience, and regular sacramental confession are key to clearing the sin away and moving closer to God.  The change in our lives will be a witness to others, as we will be able to more clearly share the light of Christ, by our own spiritual growth.

We must become more contemplative.  From contemplation comes unity of the heart.  We must spend time in prayer, and not worry about distractions that take us from our interior life such as TV, Radio, etc. that keep our heart empty.

The purpose of Confirmation is to aid the Christian in proclaiming to the world: “repent and be saved.”  Membership in the Legion of Mary is an example of the living out of the sacrament of Confirmation.
Now is a good time to meditate on Christ, who defeated evil, not by His power, but by his weakness.  Defeating death by death.

Be nice.  Do not be mean.  Be respectful.  Be sweeter than honey, but do not water down the truth.  Sound doctrine, with sweet honey.

The Trinity is beyond what we can understand in this life.  We should take time for moments of silence.  Life is a mystery; mystery is understood in silence.

Silence is golden.  Humility is the foundation of prayer.  Humility starts with silence.  We can move towards silence by spiritual reading, and by meditation.

One side effect of the Legion of Mary is a better society.  However, all that we do must be towards making people more holy.  The social effect is short lived, as culture and society change, but the eternal effect — the salvation of souls last forever.
