Mary McGinnis has joined Edel, Alfie and Frank
From Fr. O’Reilly
Dear fellow Legionaries,
“Mary McGinnis has joined Edel, Alfie and Frank.” I paraphrase the message sent to Concilium on the death of Venerable Alfie Lambe.
Gwen Curren called me at 4 p.m., Saturday, November 18, to tell me that Mary McGinnins had died this morning. Mary was 91 years old. She had fallen and broken her hip very recently. The doctors were going to perform surgery, but her heart gave out before any operation took place. Mary had been appointed Extension Worker for the Chicago Senatus by Concilium many years ago.
In September, 2005, our correspondent from Concilium, Phyllis McGuinness, and her husband Michael visited us here in Chicago. During their visit, our President, Maria Smilga, and another Legoinary drove Phyllis and Michael to visit with Mary.
Her funeral Mass will be Tuesday. For details, you can call Gwen Currin at [number edited out, e-mail the webmaster if you'd like the phone number to call].
When I first spoke with Gwen I was not sure if I could attend her services. However, I do think I will drive there. If you are interested in joining me, please email or call me
on my cell phone at [number edited out, contact webmaster for number]..
“… So that -Â the battle of life over - our Legion may reassemble, without the loss of any one, in the kingdom of your love and glory. Amem.
May the souls of our departed legionaries, particularly Mary McGinnis, and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen”
