In a marriage man is the head; woman is the neck. Wives should obey their husbands as the Lord. Woman can also be likened to the heart.
The teachings that wives should obey their husbands is still relevant today.Â
Likewise, the Church — the people of God — should obey God, as the Church is His bride.
11 “Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man, nor the man independent of the woman, in the Lord.”
16 “But if any man seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither do God’s assemblies.”
