Masses for Fr. Damian

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Damian Abbaticchio, OSB. Funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at St. Vincent’s Archabbey in Latrobe, PA. Standby for further word on a possible Requiem Mass at St. Benedict’s Chapel. Requiscant in Pace.  (from the Saint Benedict Chapel website)  Saint Gregory the Great Parish is also looking at having a Memorial Mass.  Check back for more updates.

Fighting Spam

spam@uce.gov is the e-mail to send any spam to.  If you get any spam, please forward the e-mail to spam@uce.gov.  That FTC address is the place to report spam.

Why did I post that address so many times?  So that the robots who mindlessly send e-mails out, will send the e-mails directly to the FTC for me.

Spiritual Director of St. Gregory Praesidia passed away

Fr. Damian Abbaticchio who was in residence at St. Gregory Catholic Church, and had served St. Gregory the Great and the St. Benedict Chapel, passed away during the night of June 19th to June 20th.  He was spiritual director of Our Lady of the Rosary praesidium.  There is a Mass for him in Pennsylvania on Saturday at 10AM.  There has not been anything decided as far as a Mass to be said for him in Tidewater.  Please keep the repose of his soul in your prayers.  I will keep you updated.

Posture During Mass

The General Instruction of the Roman Missal outlines worship during Mass for all Roman Catholics.  It clearly says that the faithfull should kneel from the end of the Sanctus until the end of the Eucharistic Prayer.  This requirement holds true even if kneelers are lacking, and cannot be waved by a priest, or even a Bishop.

The Parish Census

Pastors are required by cannon law to proclaim the word of God to those living in his parish.  This includes, the specific requirement to, with the collabortion of the faithfull, make every effort to bring the gospel message to those also who have given up religious practice or who do not profess the true faith.

The only way to reach every person in the parish is to go door-to-door, house by house and proclaim the gospel to every person in the parish.  At the request of many pastors, and under their guidence, the Legion of Mary is doing just that.

THE EUCHARIST OUR TREASURE The Eucharist is the centre and source of grace: therefore, it must be the very keystone of the legionary scheme. The most ardent activity will accomplish nothing of value if it forgets for a moment that its main object is to establish the reign of the Eucharist in all hearts. For thereby is fulfilled the purpose for which Jesus came into the world. That purpose was to communicate himself to souls so that he might make them one with him. The means of that communication is chiefly the holy Eucharist. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (Jn 6:51-52)
